Lighting Legends are thrilled to announce our latest collaboration with the DIY SOS team, which took place in Leicester this February 2025. Building on the success of our previous project at Treetops Hospice in Derbyshire, we once again joined forces with Nick Knowles and the dedicated crew—this time to transform a deserving family’s home into a safe, comfortable haven.
A Family-Focused Mission
The DIY SOS team’s challenge was to renovate and revitalise a home in dire need of repair and modernisation. Working closely with designer Gabrielle Blackman, they aimed to create a nurturing environment suited to the family’s specific needs. The project included everything from structural improvements to thoughtful interior design touches—ensuring the family could truly flourish in their new space.
Lighting Legends’ Role: More Than Just Illumination
From the earliest design consultations, we partnered with the DIY SOS crew to determine the best lighting solutions for each area of the outdoor space — be it the cosy living room or the practical outdoor garden space. Building on our previous success, we once again introduced our versatile Legendary Smart Socket, much to the delight of the team. Its user-friendly smart control features made it a standout choice, particularly for the family’s busy lifestyle.
Overcoming Challenges: Super Festoon Lights in Action
Leicester’s winter weather offered its fair share of surprises, but our installation team took it all in stride. Over the course of the day, we mounted our reliable Super Festoon String Lights, perfect for withstanding the elements while adding a touch of warmth and elegance to the garden. These lights not only enhanced the property’s curb appeal but also provided a safe, well-lit outdoor play area for the children.
The Grand Reveal: A Bright New Beginning
The moment of truth arrived when the family walked through their newly renovated home. Seeing their faces light up as they discovered the carefully designed living spaces, modern amenities, and inviting garden was an unforgettable experience. Their heartfelt thanks were a poignant reminder of why we love partnering on projects like DIY SOS—using our expertise to brighten people’s lives in every sense of the word.
